In their place is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/brandonstanton.com\/dearny\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Dear New York<\/em><\/a>, a massive photographic art installation created by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/brandonstanton.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brandon Stanton<\/a>, the artist behind&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/brandonstanton.com\/humans-of-new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Humans of New York<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stanton started&nbsp;<em>Humans of New York<\/em>, a portrait photography project, in 2010. He posted portraits of New Yorkers on a blog, then included quotes from his conversations with the subjects. Stanton\u2019s work took off, reaching new heights of popularity when he found an audience on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/humansofny\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram<\/a>. (His account now has 12.8 million followers.) Stanton expanded his project&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/brandonstanton.com\/series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">internationally<\/a>, and he\u2019s published&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/brandonstanton.com\/books\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">four related books<\/a>. He has photographed some 10,000 New Yorkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dny-0072-1024x683.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1950\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dny-0072-1024x683.webp 1024w, https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dny-0072-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dny-0072-768x512.webp 768w, https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dny-0072.webp 1072w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/iconic-nyc-landmark-transforms-giant-171649796.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>, Stanton calls\u00a0<em>Dear New York<\/em>\u00a0\u201ca love letter to the people of this city,\u201d staged in the iconic Midtown train station \u201cwhere the entire city comes together.\u201d Projected onto the walls of the terminal\u2019s main concourse are 50-foot-tall photographs and interview quotes. More portraits are displayed on the terminal\u2019s 150 digital screens, which normally display ads and transit announcements. And still more portraits have been pasted all over the walls of the terminal\u2019s subway station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the installation\u2019s two-week takeover of Grand Central, a lineup of students, faculty and alumni from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.juilliard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Juilliard School<\/a>&nbsp;will play a grand piano in the main concourse. Also, a companion community art showcase is on display in the station\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/grandcentralterminal.com\/vanderbilt-hall-venue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vanderbilt Hall<\/a>: It features works from local artists and more than 600&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.schools.nyc.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York City Public School<\/a>&nbsp;students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_1550-1024x683.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1951\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_1550-1024x683.webp 1024w, https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_1550-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_1550-768x512.webp 768w, https:\/\/beautyforabetterworld.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img_1550.webp 1072w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Dear New York\u00a0<\/em>installation actually emerged from Stanton\u2019s new book of the same name.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brandonstanton.com\/books\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Dear New York<\/em><\/a>, the book, is a forthcoming nearly 500-page volume of New Yorkers\u2019 portraits and stories\u2014in the style of the primary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/w\/humans-of-new-york-brandon-stanton\/1114258625?ean=9781250038821\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Humans of New York<\/em><\/a>. The money Stanton made from the\u00a0<em>Dear New York\u00a0<\/em>book funded the\u00a0<em>Dear New York\u00a0<\/em>installation.
