Because we both spend too much time in dreary hospitals
Because the impact of art on health care is a proven fact
Because we love colour
Because we love art
Because we love making connections
Because we love supporting new talent
Because we care
…*hadithi and Beauty For A Better World partner for this project to bring beautiful, soothing
art into healthcare.
The aim is to work worldwide, wherever there’s the occasion to do so, to brighten up hospitals and other health care institutions with artworks by well-known international or local artists, or new talent. We connect with organisations and NGO’s to develop art projects that brighten up dreary healthcare and office spaces to make them more pleasurable to be in, for both patients and healthcare workers.
We deliberately work on a small scale in order to keep direct contact with all involved and answer as precisely as possible to the demands. Projects are in principle artist-led, but supported by us as coordinators and curators.
Who we are:
Edith Doove of *hadithi & Ninette Murk of Beauty For A Better World first worked together for the Super! Triennial for Contemporary Art, Fashion & Design (2005) in Hasselt of which Edith was the curator. Ninette Murk’s organisation Beauty Without Irony curated the work of many international artists from their collective for the Boardwalk exhibition that formed part of this triennial.
Ninette and Edith now find each other again in a partnership with their respective organisations, Beauty for a Better World and *hadithi. Both are driven by a deep passion for colourful care and connection. Both Dutch and entrepreneurial Aquarians, they bring together more than 40 years of experience of working in the international art world with a wide range of international artists and institutions.
* Please note that we compensate the artists for their work and also charge a reasonable fee for our own work.

Feedback from participating artists
Emerald Rose Whipple:
“Thank you so much for your consideration, I love this concept and would be happy to participate. I would love to support this, with photos or paintings or prints. Really excited to help bring some light and love into these spaces!”
Jimi Dams:
“As far as Healing Art Works is concerned, there is a great need for it here. If there is any art to be seen in healthcare, it is usually appalling poster art. So I would like to participate in your project. I have always supported your initiatives and will continue to do so. You have always been a breath of fresh air in a mostly old-fashioned art world. Just tell me what you need from me and I will follow up immediately.”
Charlotte Eta Mumm:
“It all sounds interesting, personal and appealing in terms of theme and approach. I am delighted that you have invited me to be part of this initiative and I am happy to participate. It is also something that is part of my values: seeing art as an opportunity for emancipation (and imagination) within society, within a fixed system – especially for those who are vulnerable.”
