Today we discovered this wonderful video by US Youtuber Nick K about Kampung Warna Warni (meaning Rainbow Village) in Malang (Java) – a slum that was going to be demolished, until a group of students suggested refurbishing everything and giving the entire neighbourhood a lot of colour.
People there still live in tiny spaces, but the love and sympathy for each other and for visitors is palpable. Money doesn’t make you happy (as long as you can pay your bills, obviously) – love and compassion do. We feel this is a perfect story for the holidays. Enjoy!
